Festival Wedding Photography
An entrance with a twist at this Surrey Festival Wedding
Festival wedding photography was never dull at this unique festival wedding set in the Surrey countryside. Imagine brainstorming all the ideas for arriving at your wedding. Taxi – boring. Classic car – done to death. Horse and carriage – a bit… old school? And then you hit on the answer! An army tank! When was the last time you saw someone arrive for their wedding in a tank? (Now… where do we find ourselves a tank?)
This kind of impactful arrival to a wedding is a photographer’s dream, and a typically unconventional way to kick off Kate and Nick’s Surrey festival wedding. Who could help but be moved to emotion, watching their loved one appear from afar… like this?
Festival Wedding Photography and Festival Wedding Style
There were many surprising and joyful moments like this throughout the wedding day. As a festival director, Kate has plenty of experience staging events; she and Nick ensured that this one would be unforgettable. The line up was published ahead of the day so that guests could familiarise themselves with the festival wedding schedule, packed with performers, live music and many MANY rounds of cocktails. Then guests were encouraged to embrace festival wedding style, which they did with gusto. There were sequins, head dresses and catsuits galore, as well as a very popular glitter station to add just that little more sparkle.
Kate and Nick also adopted festival style for their wedding outfits. Kate donned a bohemian wedding dress with a full chiffon skirt from Mode Bridal in Brighton. Nick’s bright suit was by Gresham Blake and covered in monkeys. Because why not?
Planning a Festival Wedding
Kate and Nick project managed this large event themselves, hiring in multiple suppliers. Festival weddings are inevitably complex events to plan, as bride and groom must consider all details; from marquee hire and catering, to furniture and toilets. Nick and Kate kindly passed on details of their suppliers, which are listed below for anyone planning a similar event.
The couple enjoyed a woodland wedding ceremony surrounded by tall trees and loved ones. Next it was over to the wedding marquee for food by The Horsell Kitchen – and speeches.
Then of course, Kate and Nick provided the cornerstones to any festival event: lashings of music and a great party. There were performances from James Osler’s group: Pillow, Cable Street Collective and Will Weaver as well as Luke Wolfman and Venjent. Guests enjoyed entertainment from magician Rich Reynolds and even Kate and Nick themselves as they embarked on a newlywed Croc-fight with personalised Crocs on sticks!
Predictably the party took off late into the night as Nick and Kate exploded into married life with a bang. This was a wedding fizzing with energy and joy.
