Houchins Wedding Venue Photography
Quirky wedding day entertainment at Houchins Wedding Venue
I wonder how often Houchins Wedding Venue photography incorporates wedding alpacas, giant garden games, personalised details, and a wedding cabaret show? Joe and Stuart certainly planned a quirky, raucous and joyous start to their married life. Was this a wedding, or was I secretly transported to an East End member’s club for drinks and cabaret? Let’s dig deeper…
Houchins Wedding Venue photography in North Essex
These North Essex nuptials took place at Houchins, a beautiful countryside wedding venue, with a history dating back to the 17th Century. Grooms Joe and Stuart delighted in providing much wedding entertainment for their guests, with thoughtful details, surprises, and quirky touches to mark the day. They were really excited to tell me their story as a couple:
‘We met online around 9 years ago now and went for our first date in Pret opposite Aldgate station. Fast forward to last year and we was on our first trip to Asia, flying first class out to Singapore and then onto Bangkok. We booked a lovely hotel with a private jacuzzi and I told him that I was setting up the camera to take a photo of us – which was when I presented a ring box and proposed!’
This level of preparation and attention to detail was reflected in many aspects of Joe and Stuart’s wedding day. The grooms got ready together with their groomsmen. They dressed in smart Moss Bros wedding suits before collecting their Stubbs Farm alpacas to proudly walk down the aisle, much to everyone’s delight.
Wedding games, wedding snacks, wedding details
Joe and Stuart both agreed that their favourite part of the wedding was immediately after the ceremony, when they got to spend time mingling with their loved ones. They provided board games and activities for wedding guests, snacks and wedding cupcakes, as well as a very popular wedding crisp wall. Details dotted throughout Houchins wedding venue reflected the grooms’ sense of humour and were really fun to photograph.
Wedding evening entertainment: with drag performer Bella Berserk
The evening is when the wedding took a brilliant turn. We welcomed to the dancefloor drag artist Bella Berserk, who wowed her audience with costume changes, inappropriate jokes and even soiled pants. All in all, a documentary wedding photographer’s dream. Guests’ reactions were priceless, and, as you’ll see from the wedding gallery, there were a number of surreal moments throughout the evening.
An then… what better way to top off an incredible party than with a wedding conga through the grounds of Houchins? Uniting everyone in dance, laughter and well-wishes for husband and husband: Joe and Stuart.
