Relaxed and elegant West Yorkshire wedding
They finally made it. Ellie and Conor met at school, but it took many years and a few minor setbacks before they eventually got hitched. Ellie explains:
‘Conor and I met at school – throw in a couple of breaks here and there, a move down to London, a year in France and Canada, Covid, 2 years living with the in laws and getting our lovely cocker spaniel Pablo… we finally made it down the aisle whilst being 21 weeks pregnant!!’
A West Yorkshire Wedding
Being from Leeds myself, shooting in West Yorkshire always comes with a lovely bit of sweet nostalgia. Combine that with how chilled and full of love this day was, I thrived on every single minute I was around to capture wedding photography for Ellie & Conor at Bilton House in Harrogate and Shears Yard in Leeds.
Bilton House – a Harrogate Ceremony
The day began in sunshine as friends and family gathered at the grand Bilton House registry office in Harrogate for the ceremony. They mingled under the shade of a tree before taking their places inside to wait for the bride.
Ellie arrived in a simple and elegant silk wedding dress that skimmed her little baby bump. Her hair was styled in a loose up do by Naomi Wills at Wills and Parker, with make up by Poppy Markham. She walked down the aisle with her father and a beautiful broad smile.
The service was warm, emotional and intimate, with bride and groom reading their vows to one another. Afterwards they were bombarded by confetti from very excited friends and family. I took them for a little walk in the leafy grounds around Bilton House for some pictures, where they could take some time together to reflect on the day so far.
Vintage wedding bus from Harrogate to Leeds
After relaxed drinks in the sunshine it was time to board the vintage wedding bus, supplied by Yesteryear Coaches. It was a truly stylish way to transport the newly married couple and their guests, and a chance for everyone to chat and catch up on their way to the next venue: Shears Yard.
Shears Yard: a Leeds City Wedding Reception
With its festoon lights, patio garden and exposed brick, Shears Yard was a contemporary and relaxed space for Ellie and Conor to welcome their guests and a great pace for their wedding photography. They enjoyed cold drinks in the sunshine before heading inside to the long tables for the speeches and wedding breakfast.
When asked, Ellie says that her favourite parts of the day were ‘finally getting to call each other husband and wife, and sharing all the love with our nearest and dearest.’
This was most obvious during the speeches, which generated some fantastic reactions for photos, ranging from embarrassment, laughter, cheers, but most of all – love. Look out for Ellie and her mother gripping hands tightly as they listen; it’s clear how much this day meant to everyone involved. Ellie agrees:
‘Mike truly captured the pure happiness of the day and the love that surrounded us. He was subtle and calm throughout; we barely even noticed him snapping away throughout the day, capturing some of my favourite moments.’
And I absolutely loved shooting this Shears Yard Leeds Wedding Photography for Ellie & Conor!
