The West Mill Wedding | Paul & Martin
The West Mill wedding venue at Darley Abbey has crashed onto the wedding scene standing tall, with very good reason. I wasn’t sure what to expect when Paul and Martin booked me for their wedding at The West Mill, as I hadn’t seen this wedding venue before. They told me I’d love it! The boys were really excited about the photography possibilities and I have to say that it didn’t disappoint.
The West Mill
Originally used as a cotton spinning mill in the early 1800’s. The West Mill, a grade 1 listed building, recently underwent a loving restoration. Photographing this magnificently industrial venue, with it’s bare brick and cast iron features was a joy. They can accommodate up to 160 guests with a no corkage policy. I absolutely loved that they don’t have to ‘turn around’ any of the rooms. There’s a whole floor set out for each part of the big day. Another great thing about weddings at The West Mill is the beautiful setting by the river and weir, not forgetting their stunning courtyard too.
Equal Marriage
Paul and Martin now live in Australia but they wanted to fly home to the UK to tie the knot. A lot of people have commented how great their suits are and I agree! They brought them all the way from Oscar Hunt in Melbourne. An absolutely superb job was done organising what was a truly heart felt day. Magic was certainly unfolding in front of my camera all day long at this The West Mill wedding. If you’re planning your wedding at the moment I’d love to hear from you, get in touch today.

I LOVE this wedding – I wish I could have been there – looks like a blast! That first dance might be the best one I’ve ever seen. A lovely mix of intimate and quiet moments and happy laughter and joy. x
This was one awesome day! It was quite the feat to sneak all those girls and their outfits into the venue without the guests seeing. It was so much fun!
Gorgeous work, Mike! I LOVE these guys! I love that they got ready together, that they walked down the aisle as a family, and I love how you caught the mood of the day so beautifully!
Thanks Kat!. It was such a great day!
Mike, what a fabulous wedding!! Brilliantly captured storytelling with fantastic use of light. The venue looks an incredible place for a wedding, a great showcase for it!
Thanks so much Paul! The light in this place is unreal, the day wasn’t long enough for all the shots I wanted to get!
